A. The District
has leased the St. Joseph’s School in Collingdale to house the
students starting in
January 2011 through completion of the project.
Q. Will the students who currently walk to Ardmore Avenue School be bussed to
St.
Joseph’s School in Collingdale?
A. Yes
Q. Will the YMCA before-
Ardmore
Avenue School still be operated at the St. Joseph’s School?
A. Yes
Q. How long will the project take?
A. The project is proposed to begin in January
2011 and be completed by August
2012.
Q. If the project takes longer than the August 2012 proposed completion time, is

a contingency plan in place?
A. Yes. We have the ability to extend our contract with
St. Joseph’s School in
Collingdale.
Q. What is the total cost of the project?
A. It is estimated that the total cost of
the project will be approximately $17,300,000.
Q. What is the additional cost to the homeowner?
A. The additional cost to the average
homeowner (a house assessed at $75,000) will
be approximately $25 per household.
Q. How will the project be paid for?
A. The District is borrowing money through a
federal stimulus program called
Qualified School Construction Bonds, which are virtually

A. The District is applying for
reimbursement through the Pennsylvania
Department of Education through a program called
PlanCon. It is estimated that
the District will qualify for reimbursement of 15-
Q. I heard the winter recess dates for Ardmore Avenue Students have been extended.
Is this true?
A. Yes. Winter recess for Ardmore Avenue Elementary School students
will begin Thursday, December 23, 2010 and school will resume on Wednesday, January
5, 2011. Two days have been added to allow for staff to further prepare St. Joseph’s
School in Collingdale for the arrival of the Ardmore Avenue school students.
